Take a breath. And let me ask you this question…
How does it serve you by playing small?
Yeah, I know that’s an in-your-face kind of question right off the bat. So let me repeat it. How does it serve you by playing small.
I know it served me in the way that if I didn’t play big, I couldn’t fail. That was an easy out. And that seems to be a pattern with a lot of people that I work with as well.
We can’t fail if we don’t go big.
This leads us to living a life of mediocrity- of living a life of so-called ‘safety and security’. So we do enough just to be good, but not strive for excellence, not to go for that greatness. But that’s not who you are. And that’s not what you’re made of. So how does that play out for most people?
Well, they take jobs that don’t fulfill them, they keep a job for insurance, they marry for money, or they marry because their family wants them to, instead of finding that soulmate, that true love that, that inspires them for everything that they stand for, and who they are.
They live in the same place they grew up, not that that’s wrong. But they haven’t strived to go elsewhere. They don’t travel because they don’t speak another language. Instead of traveling and learning a second language. Meaning we hold back safety, security.
I’m gonna let you in on an insight. There is no such thing as security in an external worldview. Meaning, look at finances, people put their money away for retirement and boom crisis hits like a 2008 money gone. Example: External security, people put alarms in their houses, they still get robbed, some people carry weapons, they still get robbed or injured or God forbid, even killed, external security.
However, there is an internal security. And you know what that is? That is living full out. When you’re living full out, then you really have true security, because security is based on you, nothing on the outside of you.
So I support you to do the courageous thing and put your life at the top of the list that you do for others. Put yourself with put yourself on the list with money. So I support you to do something different. Do it take a courageous act, put yourself on that list- that list that you put everybody else on.
Dump the guilt trips, dump the ‘some days’ in the what-ifs, and ‘one of these days’.
So just like me, I wouldn’t be standing with this view behind me. Because I had the stories in my head when I was playing small. The stories of “Oh, that’s for other people, traveling the world to going to exotic locations. That’s for those kinds of people.”
Those kinds of people, people with ‘money’ or they’re lucky or born with a silver spoon.
Whatever story I made up in my head? No, it’s for those people who just take courageous action and Go for it, period. Right. So that’s the cool part. There is no ‘special people’ that living a life full out is made for.
It’s just the people who choose to do it, who have the courageous choice and actions to do it. Remember, knowledge is not power action.
I support you to take action. Put yourself at the top of that list to do something amazing for you to live full out. Stop playing safe. Stop playing for security. And go for it all.
