46: Lessons from under the ice

Antero Joki is a 55 years old Finnish freediver, freediving instructor, freediving judge, and freediving event organizer.

Antero has been on the Finnish freediving national team for 17 years and still holds three Finnish national records in his name.

Regardless of being an ex-cigarette smoker, a present asthmatic, over 100 kg (220lbs), and didn’t start freediving until he was over 35 years old.
When he was at the top of his game he was rank 5th in the world.
Antero currently organizes an annual freediving event under the ice in Finland called Päijänne on the Rocks.

His most recent project was to organize Johanna Nordblad’s world record attempt which included a Netflix documentary production: Hold Your Breath – the Ice Dive. HE was responsible for underwater safety, the record track, and judging.
